The practice was established in June 2014 with the sole intention of providing world class clinical eye care alongside professional dispensing of premium quality optical solutions within a relaxed environment devoid of retail sales pressure.
Since then, the ethos has remained unchanged yet the practice has evolved. From the outset, specialist clinical services have been available in ocular surface disease, visual stress and advanced contact lenses.
As the evidence base for the management of myopia (short sight) progression has grown significantly a myopia management clinic was introduced in 2017.
2020 marked further evolution. With advanced instrumentation and in collaboration with experienced Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Mr Thomas Ressiniotis the practice can now manage an increased range of ocular conditions both medically and surgically.
We welcome new patients. Ample parking exists directly outside the practice. The beautiful Moor Pool estate is also very easy on the eye.
Specialist Clinical Optometrist (Glaucoma & Acute Eye Care)
I am currently appointed as a Specialist Clinical Optometrist at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.
I qualified from Aston University in July 2012 with first class honours in Optometry. Upon passing all professional qualifying examinations at the first sitting I attained membership of the College of Optometrists in July 2013 and subsequent General Optical Council (GOC) registration in August 2013.
After registration I continued in independent practice before finally establishing James Ernest Optometry in June 2014.
I was appointed as an Advanced Optometrist at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust in June 2018 with principal clinical responsibilities being complex paediatric and adult refraction, glaucoma and acute eye care.
The College of Optometrists Professional Certificate in Glaucoma was completed in 2017, Professional Certificate in Paediatric Eye Care in August 2018 and the Professional Certificate in Medical Retina in October 2019.
My specialist clinical interests centre on dry eye, contact lenses, myopia control and community Ophthalmology.
Away from optometric work you will find me in Snowdonia, the English Lake District on either foot or two wheels. If I am on holiday I will be more than likely on a high altitude mountaineering expedition.
